What is Online Education (e-Learning)?
|
|
Whatever you call it, "e-learning",
"online learning", "distance learning",
"web-based training", - this relatively
new learning style has quickly become
the preferred training method for
companies and individuals alike.
Online Education or E-Learning is a form
of distance learning where web tools and
internet access are used to make the
learning process easier.
|
|
The widest definition includes all
possible learning processes online. This
means that whenever you download a
manual , a film , a file or PDF from the
internet to help you understand
something, you are engaging in some form
of online education or e-learning. By
this definition, all video files, sound
files, images, documents or
forum participation in which you extend
your knowledge would be considered
e-learning or online education.
Why Study Online?
Studying online is a smart decision for
many
reasons. People who want to improve
their education but cannot travel abroad
or attend classes due to financial, work
or family engagements can arrange for
their education without leaving their
countries. E-learning is more fit for
study areas that focus on theoretical
aspects rather than practical aspects
(imagine studying medicine
online!). As such, business
and computer training become the most
sought-after areas of online study. In
addition, e-learning can be pursued in
areas of social sciences, legal and
design.
All in all, online learning education
and support is more popular today than
it has ever been in the past. If you are
interested in this way of learning, you
really need to consider getting as much
information as you can before you get
started. |
